Scarlett Johansson is an American actor and singer born in New York City the city of New York, on November 22nd in 1984. Her acting has earned her acclaim across a wide variety of genres, including the genres of period dramas or thrillers, as well as action films. Johansson was born in New York City, and raised there by her father who was an architect and her mother, a producer. Hunter, her twin brother, and she were all the smallest of four children. When she was just seven an old, the actress started auditioning for television commercials. She enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute shortly after and attended the Professional Children's School, Manhattan to continue her training. When she was eight years old, Johansson appeared alongside Ethan Hawke as Sophistry in an Off-Broadway musical. At the age of nine her debut film was Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson was next seen as a character in Just Cause (1996), but it was Manny & Lo 1996 that gave her her breakthrough. The film tells the story of two orphaned girls who have fled to escape. She next earned critical acclaim for her role as a teenage girl who suffered a disfiguring accident in The Horse Whisperer (1998) and she gained further attention for her role as the cynical teenage outcast Rebecca in Ghost World (2001). Like other young actresses in her position the actress honed her talents on the stage. While working on different projects around the USA she also had her theatrical debut in Wildflower. She was a graduate of at the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
